Clay's Red Fish
You are dead on about me needing to hang on to Meagan! I don’t know what I would do without her! We had a great time and will definitely be back for some grass stalking. What a thrill a redfish is on the fly! Thanks again!
I particularly liked your statement “Once you master the double haul, you will find yourself using it on short casts as well because it takes much less effort.” Too many anglers think that haul casting is reserved for long casts. Small “tugs” when short casts are made to help bend that graphite lever (load the rod) you’re using, as well as shooting line during false casting, both forward and back. This optimization of fly casting really separates the intermediate from the more advanced caster.
Chris Weber a commercial tyer from Hardeeville South Carolina originated the rattle shrimp(See FLY TYER magezine) summer 1998. It is still available from BRACK N’ BRINE OUTDOOR PRODUCTS in Okatie SC. and still tied by Chris Weber. They can be reached at weberflies@hargray.com or 843-575-0522
Great patterns. I am hoping to tie up a few and see how they work in the Hilton Head/ Bluffton waters.
I took a look at your web site today after we traded some emails yesterday. Really a great site!
Great looking fly….Think I’ll tie a few in various colors.
It is a great fly. Try it with a charteruse rabbit strip and white bucktail and with orange/black barred rabbit strip with rust bucktail.
