Captain David Edens
Capt. David Edens is the Coast Guard licensed captain of Fly Cast Charters and is an Endorsed Orvis Fly-Fishing Guide. He has received 5 out of 5 ratings on the Orvis sight. Click on the link: Orvis Guide Feedback, to read the reviews. He has been an avid fly fisherman of both coastal and inland waters for almost fifty years. He has cast his line from Alaska to the Bahamas, from Vermont to California and most of the states in between.
In addition to fishing the inshore and near shore waters of the Golden Isles, your charter includes the opportunity to improve your casting skills. As the only Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Instructor in the Golden Isles, he is available to help the beginner learn how to fly cast or to help the intermediate or advanced angler tweak his cast for more accuracy or distance.
He is a Federation of Fly Fishers Professional Guide. Additionally, he has been certified by the Rod Builders Guild as a Professional Rod Builder.
A typical day of fishing with Captain Dave will be spent sight casting to feeding or cruising red fish. If the tides are high enough, we will look for Tailers on the many grass flats in the area. As the tide changes, we will target either Redfish or Trout with a fly rod or light tackle.
In the summer, the opportunity exists to catch world class Jack Crevalle in the 25-35 pound range as well as Tarpon and Triple Tail on fly or spinning tackle.
In the fall, the fly casting is superb for sight fishing for Reds and Trout. Also, the bull Reds, up to 40 pounds, are available in the passes and cuts to the Golden Isles. If the bulls are schooling, we can fly cast to them. If not, we can chunk bait for them. Catching a 20-30 pound bull Red is a fight not soon forgotten .
